A Reliable Team: Celebrating the People Behind Your Power

October 5th, 2026

By: Brad Castor, President/CEO

October is National Cooperative Month, a time to celebrate what makes electric cooperatives different — we are built by and for the communities we serve.

When you think about the people who keep your home powered, lineworkers may be the first to come to mind. They are the ones you see working along the road, climbing poles and restoring power after a storm. But keeping the lights on takes much more than the work you see in the field.

Behind every reliable connection is a team of people working together to serve you.

There are dispatchers coordinating crews and monitoring the system, working behind the scenes to help respond quickly when an outage occurs. Member service representatives are ready to answer your questions when you call, whether you need help understanding your bill, starting or stopping service or reporting an outage.

Engineers and stakers plan and design the system, helping ensure new services and improvements are safe, reliable and built to meet future needs. Right-of-way crews help keep vegetation clear from power lines, while geographic information system professionals maintain the mapping and data that help our employees understand and manage the electric system.

Billing and records teams make sure account information is accurate and payments are processed. Information technology professionals keep the equipment and systems that support our operations running securely and reliably. Finance and administration teams manage the resources entrusted to us by our members.

And our marketing and communications team helps keep you informed about your cooperative, from important safety information and outage updates to programs, events and ways you can get involved.

Then there are the people you may see outside the cooperative. We are guided by a board of directors made up of your neighbors. These directors help provide oversight and make decisions that shape the cooperative’s future, always with the needs of our communities in mind.

Every role matters. Every employee contributes. Every decision is made with our members at the center.

That is the strength of the cooperative model. We are more than the people who deliver electricity to your home or business. We are your neighbors, friends and community members working together to provide safe, reliable and affordable power.

So, this October, celebrate National Co-op Month with us. We are proud to be your cooperative — and even prouder to be part of the communities we call home.
