Your Power. Our Responsibility: Working Every Day to Keep Power Affordable

June 8th, 2026

By: Brad Castor, President/CEO

Many members in our community are facing challenging times, and no one wants to see rising electric bills. We know how much it matters to keep costs manageable, especially when every dollar counts at home or on the farm. You depend on us every day for the electricity you need, and we take that trust seriously.

Recently, our wholesale power supplier, Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation, announced a rate adjustment that, starting this month, will lead to a modest increase in the cost of the power we purchase. We recognize our responsibility is to serve you by working to keep your bills as affordable as possible.

It’s our job to manage costs we can control before we ask you to pay more for your power.

That’s why we are focused on increasing efficiency in our organization and reducing costs whenever possible in our operations. We work every day — reviewing every line item, stretching the life of our equipment when it makes sense and exploring every responsible option to keep expenses down. We’re a not-for-profit and member-owned cooperative, so every decision is aimed at delivering reliable and affordable power.

Just as important, we’re focused on solutions, not excuses. One way we can help right now is by helping you reduce your energy use. That’s why we’re offering free home and business energy audits.

Our team will visit your home or business and work to provide you with simple, practical steps — whether they’re sealing drafts, upgrading lighting or adjusting thermostats — that can lower your energy use and bill.

We know rising costs are frustrating and beyond your control. Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative is working on your behalf, advocating for affordability, managing every dollar wisely and looking for ways to assist.

If you have questions, concerns or would like to schedule an energy audit, reach out to us at (877) 828-4074. We’re in this together. Rich Mountain Electric belongs to our members, and our members matter.
