Saving energy during peak times

July 5th, 2023

With hotter weather, the demand for electricity is at its greatest during the peak hours of 4-8 p.m. during the months of June, July, August and September.

With that in mind, washing and drying clothes and running dishwashers early in the morning or late in the evening helps reduce the energy demand during the peak hours.

Here are some energy-savings tips:

  • Wash laundry in cold water to save energy and save money.
  • Use bigger loads because a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher will use the same energy whether you wash a medium or large load, so take advantage of the electricity you are already using.
  • Keep your dryer’s lint trap clean.
  • Use the dryer’s moisture sensor mode if available.
