May is Military Appreciation Month
Service. Mission. Country. These three words describe our nation’s military. Servicemen and women are on call around the world 365 days a year, 7 days a week and 24 hours a day, defending the interests and security of the nation.
On May 30, 1999, Congress designated May as Military Appreciation Month. It’s a month-long observance dedicated to those currently serving in the military or those who have served in the past, and a great opportunity to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
Each year, a presidential proclamation reminds Americans of the importance that the military plays in the United States — not only in the history and development of our country, but for the future as well. This month is also meant to show appreciation for the military families, who tirelessly stand by and support their serving relatives.
May is a fitting time to honor the service of members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, Space Force and National Guard. The month ends with Memorial Day, remembering the sacrifice and service of those who gave all in service to their country.
At Rich Mountain Electric, we are grateful to have current and past members of the military within our community, and we are proud to honor them and their families for the service and sacrifice. We hope you’ll join us in recognizing the sacrifices our militiary have made to our great country –– and the many contributions they continue to make to our wonderful community. To those who serve or have served, we salute you!
